To honour commitments, kindness and relationships, and not let temporary advantage erase what came before.
Loyalty is a quiet value. It appears in keeping confidences, returning kindness, not abandoning people at the first disagreement and fulfilling what we promised.
Loyalty does not mean remaining in a harmful relationship or accepting wrongdoing. We can remain loyal to values and memories while setting healthy boundaries.
How do we live it?
- Do not forget those who helped you at the beginning.
- Keep a promise, or apologise before it is too late.
- Protect the privacy of someone who trusted you.
- Do not change your position towards a person only because your interests changed.
- Thank those who have had an impact on your life.
A question for reflection
Do people remember me as someone whose word can be trusted?
