Sustainability

To consider how today’s decision will affect tomorrow and seek practices that can continue without exhausting people or resources.

To consider how today’s decision will affect tomorrow and seek practices that can continue without exhausting people or resources.

Sustainability is not only environmental, although protecting resources is an essential part of it. It also applies to relationships, knowledge, healthy habits and initiatives.

An initiative that collapses after two weeks because it made excessive promises is not sustainable. A good habit that cannot be maintained also needs to be redesigned.

How do we live it?

  • Reduce waste in consumption.
  • Choose a commitment you can maintain.
  • Document knowledge so it is not lost.
  • Repair before replacing when appropriate.
  • Ask about the effect of your decision after a year, not only after a day.

A question for reflection

Can what I am doing today continue in a healthy and useful way?
